Millenium Dome, London

Millenium Dome, London

by Tom Mills…

Constructed in celebration of Y2K, the Millennium dome was conceived under a John Major-led conservative federal government to celebrate the coming of the third millennium. Inside the preparing stages a lot hype surrounded the dome. It was for being ‘London’s solution towards Eiffel Tower’ and ‘the envy from the world’. However, critics claimed it to be a ‘White Elephant’ plus a ‘triumph of insignificance’ saying that the £758m selling price tag could happen to be far much better invested on enhancing education, wellness care, sports facilities or affordable housing.
